A TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) can be issued by the local courts but can only be made final by a Family Superior Court Judge. This is called a FRO (Final Restraining Order) and has many implications besides not having contact with the victim including prohibition from possessing any weapons, order to attend anger management and financial penalties.
