South Jersey DMV Driver License Violation Attorney

The New Jersey Motor Vehicles Commission (MVC) assesses points against your driving record for moving violations. If you accumulate six or more points within three years from your last posted violation, you will receive a $150 Surcharge plus $25 for each additional point. A points based Surcharge can result in a Surcharge for three years. If you get 12 or more points on your current driving record, your license will be suspended. Please contact our firm today at (609) 267-1101 to discuss how this could impact your life.

It is important to know that the MVC can assign fault to your violation. For example, if you are involved in a car accident in which someone dies, you can lose your driving privileges for up to 10 years, even if there is no DWI charge associated with the accident.

The MVC also assigns points to your driving record, which can increase your insurance rates. For example, tailgating is five points, an improper U-turn is three points, passing in a no-passing zone is four points, leaving the scene of an accident where someone was injured is eight points, and any violation in a construction zone or safe corridor would be assessed with double points.

In some areas of law, strategy is king. In this area of law, details rule the day. There are deadlines to be met, forms to file accurately and appearances to be made. A mistake could cost you your driving privileges.

At Sitzler and Sitzler we have been though this process hundreds of times and we do not believe in making mistakes.

A Motor Vehicle Commission hearing is not a trial. It is a hearing before an investigator who will look at the details of your criminal charge or other violation that resulted in a driver's license suspension or revocation.
